Mr. Johnnie Weldon Miller

On Saturday, March 3, 2018, our Heavenly Father called our precious, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Johnnie W. Miller home to his eternal rest. Johnnie was born on June 3, 1939 to the late Jerry Miller and the late Roberta Robinson Miller.

He was educated in the Chesterfield County School System and initially pursued a career as an entrepreneur in logging. He later decided to pursue a career as a long distance truck driver and later as a machine operator. Ultimately, Johnnie retired from Conbraco Industries, Inc. after 25 years of service. He also spent several years serving the Lord in ministry and was a faithful member of Nicey Grove Baptist Church. During his tenure with Nicey Grove, he served in many capacities to include the following: choir director, organist, deacon, board of trustees, bus driver, janitor, and landscaper. He later joined the Word of Life Fellowship Church where he faithfully served as an usher and worked as an offering steward for many years.

Johnnie never met a stranger and saw the good in everyone. He enjoyed talking with people and through his unforgettable laugh and smile, he left a lasting impression on all. In addition, he had many hobbies which included playing the guitar and piano, which further illustrated his passion for music. His record collection was also a testament to his love for good music. Aside from his passion for music, ministry and commitment to hard work, Johnnie had an undeniable love for his beloved wife, Wilhelmenia Miller. Johnnie met Wilhelmenia while they were both working on a farm and it was love at first sight. The two were inseparable and were married for 57 years. Johnnie was also a loving and devoted family man.

He was predeceased by his sister, Gearlie Mae Miller, sister-in-law, Gladys Miller, and three brothers, Bobby Miller, Randy Miller, and Theron Miller. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Wilhelmenia Miller; children, Willa Blakeney and son-in-law, Hampson Blakeney, Mildred Smith and son-in-law, Daniel Smith, Johnnie Miller, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Tammy Miller; siblings, Willie Jo Miller, Shirley Little, Geraldine Miller, Joseph Miller, Eddie Dean Miller, Anthony Miller, and sister-in-law Phyllis Miller; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
